Following my last post on how to edit AI-generate writing, let’s zero in on one way to make AI-generate text sound more human. You may have noticed how stiff AI-generated writing can sound, but how do you make it more engaging? Here are some ways to add that human flair to your AI-generated writing:
Use contractions: Contractions make your language more conversational and less formal. Instead of saying "do not," say "don't."
Use personal pronouns: Instead of saying "the reader" or "the user," use "you" to address your audience directly. This creates a more personal connection with your reader. You can even use “we” if you would like to include yourself in the conversation.
Use everyday language: Avoid using complex or technical jargon that your audience may not understand. Use simple, everyday language that is easy to understand.
Use anecdotes and stories: People love stories and relate to personal experiences. Use anecdotes and stories to illustrate your point and connect with your audience. You can start thinking about stories by thinking about more relatable parts of the human experience like being new to a subject or a place, being sleep-deprived, traveling, being hungry, etc. Talk about your own experiences. Also, think about stories your audience would appreciate.
Use humor: Humor can be risky, but it can make your writing more engaging and relatable. Use it sparingly and appropriately to add a human touch to your language.
Use active voice: Pretty much, always use the active voice. There are very few times when you don’t want to use it. The active voice makes your writing more direct and engaging. Instead of saying "the report was written by me," say "I wrote the report."
